So it's been quite a day. I don't often blog about Real Life, but today it crossed paths with Tolkien fandom, so here goes.

I've not often had the good luck to meet one of my fandom friends offline, and that's what I did today. I hope that mybluerose

doesn't take offense to the fact that I'm writing about her (well, us) without asking first. I just want to thank her for being awesome. <3

We've known of each other, at least, for a few years now, but I didn't know all that much about her - I definitely wasn't expecting to find out that, so far as fandom goes, we might as well have been next door neighbors *chuckles* (And that not too long ago, we actually lived in even closer proximity than we do now!)

Anyway, we got together IRL - the planning stages scared me half out of my wits to be honest. I thought all sorts of ridiculous things, maybe she wouldn't like me after all, maybe she wouldn't like Donut, who's IMO the best seagull muse a writer could have, maybe she would think I was a freak for talking to my stuffie - but no, we hit it off wonderfully and after a great catch-up at my house (with my mum, even!), and an absolutely amazing lunch out, during which we enthused about various topics including Tolkien (obviously!) we headed back to my house for more catching up, and what else?

Tidying my room *laughs* it looked somewhat like a small tornado barged through it, backwards, sideways, and upside down. Now it looks marginally less like that. I think this will be an ongoing project. I'm just very grateful to have a friend nearby who loves Tolkien as much as I do, understands me better than I hoped for, and doesn't mind helping me organize my physical space because my brain won't settle enough for me to do it myself.
